Internet Journal of Medical Update is an international journal which provides a multidisciplinary forum for the exchange of current ideas in form of original research work, review article, interesting case report, brief communication, letter to editor etc. among medical professionals. It is also intended to provide a platform for young medical professionals to participate in research activities, with the aim to enhance their outlook towards recent developments in the field of medicine. Being multidisciplinary in nature, all students undergoing medical training would be benefited from the scientific publications of this journal.
The Editor receives manuscripts with the understanding that they have not been published previously and that they have not been submitted for publication elsewhere. The author should confirm this in writing in the cover letter when transmitting the manuscript for publication. Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged promptly, and authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection in a timely manner.
The manuscripts are reviewed by an international committee of reviewers with maintenance of full anonymity. The editors of the journal identify the reviewers based on the nature of article. A statement of copyright transfer to the publisher will be required for manuscripts which are accepted for publication. The Editor will supply the necessary forms for this transfer.
Internet Journal of Medical Update (IJMU) has a provision for 'Best Paper' in each issue through a system of online analysis of the visitors' number and also by analysis of reviewers' comments.
The Impact factor 2010 of Internet Journal of Medical Update is 0.324. It has been calculated by online computation using Google Scholar.

IC value of a journal is calculated on the basis of five important parameters such as scientific quality (58%), editorial quality (20%), international availability (13.5%), frequency-regularity-stability (5%) and technical quality (3.5%). The international indexation, the annual percent of original research papers, the number of papers published annually from centers outside the journal's country of origin indirectly indicates the journal's acceptance on the international market, the number of all papers published on annual basis and the international editorial board are evaluated to assess the scientific quality. The leading element to assess the editorial quality is the uniform composition of presented manuscripts and adherence to the authors' guidelines of journal. International availability is evaluated by considering two important factors: the language of publication (English is prefered) and the internet availability. Regularity of issuance is also assessed, which is an important factor for the stability of a journal. Technical quality is determined by proper presentation of the scientific content.
